About FreeCodeQRGenerator
A QR code generator that does the whole job in your browser and asks nothing of you in return.
Why it exists
Most free QR generators are not really free. They hand you a short link that points at their servers, so the code stops working the day they decide to charge for it or shut down. Others put a watermark on the download, cap the resolution, or ask for an email before they let you save anything.
FreeCodeQRGenerator takes the opposite approach. Every code it makes is a static code: the content is encoded in the pattern itself, with no redirect in the middle. Once you download it, it belongs to you and keeps working whether or not this site does.
How it works
The code is generated and drawn on a canvas by JavaScript running in your own browser. The text you type — a URL, a Wi-Fi password, the contact details on a vCard — is never sent to a server, because there is no server call involved in making the code. The download is produced locally too.
Codes are generated at the highest error-correction level, which is what makes it possible to drop a logo in the middle without breaking the code. The three corner squares are always drawn as solid shapes, whichever style you pick, because scanners rely on them to locate and orient the symbol.
What you can encode
Website links, plain text, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, pre-filled emails, phone numbers, SMS and WhatsApp messages, map coordinates, social profiles and calendar events. Each type has its own form, and the encoding follows the relevant convention — vCard 3.0 for contacts, iCalendar for events, the standard WIFI payload for networks.
